Waterfall Methodology vs RUP. There are number of different software development methodologies used in the software industry today. Waterfall development method is one of the earliest software development methods. Waterfall software development methodology is a sequential model in which each phase is completed in full and followed in a fixed order. RUP (Rational Unified Process) is an adaptable process framework of iterative software development methodologies. While many companies are actively seeking to use agile practices, such as XP or Scrum to help streamline production with fast, effective development practices that can give their customers what they want in the shortest time possible, elements of some of the traditional software development methods such as the “Waterfall” or “Rational Unified Process (RUP)” are often required to bridge the gaps that some of these new practices have.

What Are The Key Differences Between Agile And Waterfall? As you can already tell, Waterfall is the exact opposite of Agile. And here is what makes them different: Waterfall follows a sequential task order while Agile doesn’t. When using Waterfall, you first need to complete your current assignment before moving on to the next one.

What team are you?! AGILE VS. WATERFALL. In this week's Vlog, Ashley Hunt talks to each Project Management methodology and the three most impactful differenc Waterfall method, being sequential in its approach cannot adapt to the frequent change of project scope. On the other hand, agile project management employs an iterative approach and is highly adaptable to frequent changes. Advantages of Agile over Waterfall are: Agile techniques virtually eliminate the chances of absolute project failure.
